State Employee Charitable Campaign kicks off Sept. 8

The 2023 State Employee Charitable Campaign (SECC) to make lives better will kick off on Sept. 8 and run through Oct. 13. This year’s theme is “Be Someone’s Hero” and signifies each person’s ability to be a hero and make a difference in the lives of others in the community.

In addition to making an online pledge, the university community can bid on an auction item to contribute to the campaign. This year’s online auction will open at 8 a.m. on Sept. 25 and run through Oct. 13. Payment for the auction items can be made by check, cash or credit card. Auction administrators will contact the winners.

The university’s departments will also hold individual fundraisers. Please be on the lookout for these upcoming fundraising announcements.

The university community can also support the campaign by attending a food truck event Wednesday, Sept. 13 on Lot 6 near the main entrance of the Joe R. and Teresa Lozano Long Campus.

The event will feature San Antonio Spurs host Chuck Cureau as the master of ceremonies and six food trucks offering a variety of cuisines — from barbeque, cajun and street tacos, to craft eggrolls, burgers and ice cream.
