The Long School of Medicine Academy of Educational Scholars announces 2022 STAR Educators

Forty-seven faculty members have been selected as 2022 Joe R. and Teresa Lozano Long School of Medicine STAR Educators in the Academy of Educational Scholars.

The mission of the UT Health San Antonio academy is to serve the Long School of Medicine and its faculty members through honoring, fostering and advancing biomedical teaching and excellence in educational scholarship.

In addition to earning recognition as excellent educators in the UT Health San Antonio Long School of Medicine, new members participate in a fellowship-style, one-year, curriculum-based training program focused on completing a research and statistics-informed scholarly project in education. They also can earn national biomedical education credentials and receive other member benefits.

“By highlighting and recognizing the good work of our STAR Educators, we will promote and elevate Long School of Medicine educators who are passionate about teaching and truly make a difference on our campus,” says Sylvia Botros-Brey, MD, MSCI, associate professor/clinical in the Department of Urology and the academy’s executive director. “We want them to be recognized and highlighted for the work they are doing and the impact they have on their learners and colleagues.”
