A new vending machine at the McMullen County Emergency Operations Center is providing free, anonymous access to Narcan, a medication that can reverse the effects of an opioid overdose. McMullen County received the vending machine through a grant, providing a new way for people in the rural county to access naloxone, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Grant funding for the machine and supplies are provided to the county through a partnership with Naloxone Texas and The University of Texas at San Antonio Health Science Center’s Be Well Institute.
