The Barshop Institute for Longevity and Aging Studies at UT Health San Antonio is one of the world’s premier aging research centers, and Drs. Musi and Espinoza are two of its premiere researchers.

Dr. Musi, who also directs the Geriatric Research, Education and Clinical Center in the South Texas Veterans Health Care System, is a renowned physician-scientist. His research is varied, but the latest involves studying how exercise changes the body at the molecular level.

Dr. Espinoza’s research focuses on understanding the geriatric syndrome of frailty, an important clinical geriatric syndrome that causes older adults to be at risk for falls, disability, nursing home placement, and death.
