Joe R. Long, one-half namesake of the Joe R. and Teresa Lozano Long School of Medicine at The University of Texas at San Antonio Health Science Center, died Oct. 7 at age 96. He received two degrees from The University of Texas at Austin and through his and his wife’s philanthropy made a huge impact on their alma mater. Long’s influential wife, Teresa Lozano Long, died in 2021. In addition to the School of Medicine at UT San Antonio, the couple made transformational impacts in UT Austin’s College of Liberal Arts, College of Fine Arts, School of Law and College of Education, among other areas.
