UT Health San Antonio faculty perform during Musical Bridges Around the World’s annual fundraiser

Francisco Cigarroa, MD, and Alexander Papanastassiou, MD, will be performing during the D’s on Keys: Virtual Sunday Brunch Gala on Sunday, Sept. 20 at 11 a.m. This is the main annual fundraiser event for Musical Bridges Around the World (MBAW).

The performing arts organization, now in its 23rd season, produces free public programs in San Antonio, reaching more than 25,000 people annually.

The virtual event will be livestreamed from UT Health San Antonio’s Holly Auditorium.

Renowned transplant surgeon and former UT System chancellor Francisco G. Cigarroa, MD, will be performing the classical guitar during the virtual event.

Dr. Cigarroa occupies the Carlos and Malú Alvarez Distinguished University Chair in Pediatric Transplant Surgery at UT Health San Antonio and is director of the University Transplant Center offered in partnership with University Health System.

Alexander Papanastassiou, MD, assistant professor in the Department of Neurosurgery in the Joe R. and Teresa Lozano Long School of Medicine, will be performing the piano during the virtual event.

Musical Bridges Around the World counts on community members’ support to continue to transform lives through multicultural performing and visual arts by shattering barriers, creating connectivity, and inspiring hope for those with the least access.

This free event will honor first responders and health care workers in the community.
