UT Health San Antonio graduates take center stage at spring commencement

WHAT:                   Graduates from the Joe R. and Teresa Lozano Long School of Medicine, Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences, School of Nursing, School of Dentistry and School of Health Professions will walk the stage this Saturday. More than 1,100 students – 946 in May and 216 in the summer – are candidates for graduation at The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio (UT Health San Antonio), according to the university’s Office of Institutional Research.

Parents, family, friends, and UT Health San Antonio faculty and staff will be in attendance, including John P. Howe III, MD, president emeritus of UT Health San Antonio, Francisco G. Cigarroa, MD, senior executive vice president for health affairs and health system, and Taylor Eighmy, PhD, acting president of UT Health San Antonio.

WHEN:                   Saturday, May 17, 7:30 p.m.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m.

NOTES:                  The Master of Science in Imaging Sciences program in the School of Health Professions is celebrating the graduation of 18 students in its first cohort. Designed to develop clinical competence with registry-eligible certifications in radiography, computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists, the new program welcomed its first students in the fall of 2023.

Some of the May and summer graduates include:

  • 233 candidates for the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree
  • 215 candidates for the Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree
  • 108 candidates for the Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree
  • 48 candidates for the Doctor of Occupational Therapy (OTD) degree
  • 45 candidates for the Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree
  • 46 candidates for the Master of Science in Speech Language Pathology degree
  • 34 candidates for the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in several disciplines
  • 24 candidates for the Master of Science in Respiratory Care degree
  • 23 candidates for the Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene
  • 18 candidates for the Master of Science in Imaging Sciences
  • 8 candidates for Master of Deaf Education and Hearing Science
