Due to continued heavy rainfall, significant flooding across the San Antonio area and the potential for additional severe weather overnight, UT Health San Antonio is modifying operations for Thursday, July 16 to prioritize the safety of our students, patients, employees and visitors.
Academic, Research and Administrative Functions
- Classes are transitioning to remote operations and students should communicate directly with their professors.
- Employees whose responsibilities are designated as essential should report as directed by their supervisor. Essential employees who are unable to safely travel to campus should notify their supervisor immediately.
- Academic, research and administrative operations at the Health Science Center should work remotely, if job responsibilities allow.
- Essential research laboratory operations will continue as scheduled unless otherwise directed by department leadership.
Clinical Operations
- Patient care services remain operational at this time.
- Outpatient clinics will continue to operate as scheduled unless patients are contacted directly regarding changes to their appointments.
- The Multispecialty and Research Hospital will continue normal operations.
- Clinical leaders will continue to monitor conditions throughout the weather event and communicate any operational changes as needed.
Campus Resources and Emergency Support
- The Dolph Briscoe Jr. Library will remain open.
- Gold’s Gym on the Long Campus will remain open during normal operating hours.
- Facilities Management and the UT Health San Antonio Police Department will continue monitoring campus conditions throughout the weather event.
Notifications will continue to be shared through HSC Alert and university email.
The safety of our students, patients, employees and visitors remains our highest priority. If travel conditions are unsafe in your area, please use your best judgment and communicate with your supervisor as appropriate. Never attempt to drive through flooded roadways or areas of high water, and continue to follow guidance from local emergency management officials.
If you observe flooding, water intrusion or other facilities concerns on campus, please contact Facilities Management at (210) 567-2946.
Thank you for your cooperation, flexibility and continued commitment to serving our patients, students and community as we navigate this extreme weather event together.
