The Spine Center at UT Health San Antonio is now open, offering complete spine care for adults and children from a team of neurosurgeons, orthopaedic surgeons and specialists in non-operative care.
Located at the UT Health Medical Arts and Research Center, The Spine Center is home to the region’s only EOSedge (EOS), a state-of-the-art imaging system that provides a full-body scan in 20 seconds, with much less radiation exposure than traditional X-rays and CT scans.
This innovative technology combines multiple imaging techniques to better diagnose and treat back pain and underscores UT Health San Antonio’s dedication to understanding and treating the root cause of back and neck conditions.
“We are a team of problem solvers committed to making lives better,” said Christopher Chaput, MD, director of The Spine Center and chief of orthopaedic spine surgery at The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. “Using advanced technology helps speed up the process of identifying the source of the problem in a patient’s spine. Our mission is to connect each patient with tailored, personalized spine care with the whole range of conservative options available in one place.”
At The Spine Center, evaluations begin with an EOS exam, which provides the spine team with high-quality full-body images and accurate 3D measurements. Patients can walk into the machine, stand upright in an open cabinet and allow the system to scan the body.
This access means easy entry and positioning for a wide range of patients. The technology captures images safely, quickly and comfortably for both pediatric and adult patients, adding value to each step of the treatment plan from diagnosis to long-term care.
