UT Health Science Center to hold open house June 17 for new dietetics and nutrition program

WHAT: The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio is holding an open house at its Laredo Campus Extension to showcase its new dual bachelor’s and master’s degree in dietetics and nutrition starting this fall.

A healthy food cooking demonstration and tasting will be held from 4 to 4:30 p.m. during the open house.

WHEN: 4 – 6 p.m. on Wednesday, June 17

WHERE: The Academic Building (Room 2.101) at the UT Health Science
Center’s Laredo Campus Extension, 1937 Bustamante Street

WHO: Faculty members from the new program, including Program Director Carmen Román-Shriver, Ph.D., RD, LD, will be on hand to discuss the field of dietetics and nutrition, the new Health Science Center degrees and requirements for admission.

DETAILS: The program prepares graduates for high-demand, well-paid careers at hospitals, clinics, schools, community programs, long-term care facilities, wellness programs and the food industry. Graduates will be eligible to take the national exam to become a registered dietician.

The deadline for fall admission is July 1.
