UT Police moving to new home on Long campus

The UT Health San Antonio Police Department is moving to a new home on the Long campus, effective Nov. 1.

The department will now be headquartered in newly renovated space at the south end of Garage B, in the same building as badging and parking permits.

While the department moves, walk-in services such as background checks, finger printing services and police reports will be unavailable. Services will resume at 8 a.m., Monday, Nov. 6.

The new space was transformed into a high security environment featuring the newest technology advances in campus policing. The location also includes space for the department to provide safety training for employees, students and agencies, such as University Hospital, Bexar County Sheriff’s Department and the San Antonio Police Department.

Police Chief Michael Parks said the new location was a strategic placement to enhance the continued efforts of providing public assistance and a safe environment through safety awareness and law enforcement to all of the campus locations and surrounding community areas. The location also reinforces the department goal to provide three officers to any incident within three minutes.

The department plans an open house and tours of the new facility in the near future.
