UT San Antonio makes Forbes list of ‘America’s Best Employers for Company Culture’

UT San Antonio has been named to Forbes’ 2026 list of “America’s Best Employers for Company Culture,” earning national recognition for fostering a workplace culture built on collaboration, respect and a shared sense of purpose.

The recognition places the university among the top 400 organizations in the U. S. excelling in workplace culture in the areas of fairness, respect, passion for the university’s mission and services, and providing an environment where employees feel supported and empowered to take initiative.

The honor comes at a pivotal time as the university nears an important one-year milestone. Since integrating last September, UT San Antonio’s faculty, staff and leaders have worked together to build a unified institution committed to advancing excellence in education, research, discovery and commercialization.

“As we mark the first anniversary of our merger, it’s especially meaningful that our university has been recognized for its commitment to the employees whose dedication and collaboration drive our shared mission of improving lives across South Texas and beyond,” said Senior Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer Amy S. Tawney, MBA, SPHR. “This recognition reflects the culture we continue to build together — one rooted in service, innovation and a genuine commitment to one another as we shape the future of education, research, health, public service and community impact.”

University among a select group of employers in San Antonio

UT San Antonio is one of only four employers in San Antonio, alongside H-E-B, USAA and Southwest Research Institute, to be recognized for its outstanding organizational culture, placing the university among the city’s most respected workplaces.

The Forbes list was developed in partnership with the market research firm Statista. More than 217,000 U.S. employees who work for companies with at least 1,000 employees were surveyed. The 600 companies with the highest scores earned a spot on the Forbes list.

The power of a strong workplace culture

The Forbes recognition is an important indicator of the university’s organizational strength. Institutions with strong workplace cultures are better positioned to attract and retain exceptional talent, foster innovation, strengthen collaboration and achieve long-term success. These qualities directly support excellence in education, research, patient care and public service.

As UT San Antonio continues its evolution as one of the nation’s leading public research universities and academic health centers, this recognition reflects a culture driven by purpose, where faculty and staff are united in advancing knowledge, improving health, expanding opportunity and serving the public good.
