San Antonio (Aug. 24, 2004) – Deborah Valle, M.B.A., former student services coordinator of the Regional Academic Health Center (RAHC), has accepted the newly created position of administrative services director as the RAHC continues to grow.

In her new role as administrative services director, she will work with university and Lower Rio Grande Valley constituencies while overseeing activities related to administrative and fiscal operations of the RAHC.

“I plan to continue to support and build on the many close working relationships established by Dr. Leonel Vela with the goal of furthering the mission of the RAHC in the Rio Grande Valley,” Valle said.

As student services coordinator, Valle incorporated accountability monitoring and reporting within the student services office while establishing collaborative relationships with other Health Science Center departments. She designed and currently maintains six Web portal pages for the RAHC.

“Debbie Valle has served as the student services coordinator at the Harlingen campus for the past two years and during that time, she took every opportunity to improve communication and services,” said Theresa Chiang, Ed.D., associate vice president for academic affairs. “I admire her dedication, commitment and professionalism. Now assuming the expanded role of the director of administrative services at the RAHC, Debbie will no doubt continue to positively contribute to the benefits of faculty, staff and students in Harlingen.”

Valle is a member of the American Health Information Management Association, the National Association for Healthcare Quality and the Texas Association for Healthcare Quality. She is also the treasurer and former president of the Rio Grande Valley Health Information Management Association. She received a bachelor’s degree in health information administration from the College of St. Scholastica in Duluth, Minn., and a master’s degree in business administration from The University of Texas Pan American in Edinburg.
