Verywell Health: Racial spending gap in health care favors white Americans, study finds

Dr. Amelie Ramirez, Population Health Sciences, Salud America! and the Institute for Health Promotion Research, is quoted in this article about a new study that found that white Americans spend disproportionately more than people of color for health care services in the United States. Dr. Ramirez said that high insurance costs pose barriers for some people of color and that implicit racial bias from health care providers can widen these disparities for people with or without insurance.
