A Veterans Day message from President Henrich

Veterans Day
Veterans Day

At the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of 1918, the guns of World War I—the war to end all wars—fell silent. Since that time, our nation has marked Veterans Day, a celebration to honor America’s veterans for their patriotism, love of country and willingness to serve and sacrifice for the common good.

Over the years, millions of our fellow citizens have come forward to defend the values and ideals of a grateful nation. They have come from many backgrounds and served in a variety of ways, but all contributed to America’s greatness and character and freedom.

In San Antonio, with our historic ties to the military, we are especially mindful of our veterans. It is only natural and fitting that UT Health San Antonio, with its mission to engage the community to improve health, constantly strives to partner more effectively with the military and veterans entities in the city.

Our establishment of the Military Health Institute two years ago has earned a place as one of the nation’s most prestigious interdisciplinary research and clinical care centers for the military.

We owe a special note of gratitude to all Health Science Center faculty, staff, residents and students who have served or are serving in our nation’s armed forces.

We join today to salute all who have served so selflessly in the cause of liberty. We are proud of all veterans, honored by their service, humbled by their sacrifice.

Our pledge to these brave individuals is this:  We will never forget you. We honor you. We thank you.

May God continue to bless our great nation.

Sincerely,

William L. Henrich, M.D., MACP, President
