Volunteering through UT Health San Antonio’s community partners is now easier than ever. By using the institution’s community engagement platform, UT Health San Antonio ENGAGED, students, faculty, staff and community partners can easily track volunteer hours.
All 10,000-plus members of the UT Health San Antonio community are already enabled to access the portal and serve with any of the institution’s currently registered community partners.
With many community partners to choose from, potential volunteers can scroll through the institution’s list of organizations to find a partner that speaks to them. For students looking for an opportunity to provide direct patient care volunteer hours for their degree, hospice may be a good fit. The nonprofit Compassus Hospice — a leader in providing high-quality, compassionate, person-centered care to individuals wherever they call home — can provide the opportunity to make a difference in the life of a terminally ill patient.
For those looking to volunteer with an organization for people living with muscular dystrophy, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) — a progressive neurodegenerative disease — and related neuromuscular diseases, the Muscular Dystrophy Association may be of interest.
The ENGAGED platform automatically records volunteer hours free of charge to help the university better achieve its mission of community engagement.
