Volunteers needed for poverty simulation

The Center for Medical Humanities and Ethics is seeking volunteers for its “Poverty Simulation — A Month in the Life” event, which will be held on Thursday, Oct. 13 from 8:30 a.m. to noon at UT Health San Antonio (7703 Floyd Curl Drive).

The purpose of the simulation is to help students imagine the patient’s experience and to prepare them to have trusting relationships with patients, regardless of economic circumstances.

The simulation is open to volunteers from UT Health San Antonio and the general public. Volunteers will play the roles of resource providers, including social workers, loan officers, employers, pawnbrokers, grocers, utility collectors, police officers and teachers.
