Paymon Bagheri has joined the Mays Cancer Center, home to UT Health San Antonio MD Anderson Cancer Center, as the senior director of finance and administration. Paymon is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE), Fellow of the American College of Medical Practice Executives (FACMPE) and a certified Lean Six Sigma health care administration professional. He brings strong expertise and accomplishment in financial management, clinical operations, quality/safety performance improvement and strategic planning in large complex academic health systems.
Prior to coming here, Paymon worked for the past seven years at the University of California San Francisco/Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital as the administrative director for all medical/surgical specialties. He provided strategic oversight across 67 different adult and pediatric subspecialties, including all cancer services. Before that, Paymon worked as a practice manager and administrative manager in Washington, D.C. and Boston for more than six years.
Among many other responsibilities in his new role, Paymon will oversee all strategic planning, finance and budgeting, facilities management, communications, faculty/staff Recruitment and staff development at Mays Cancer Center.
More than anything, Paymon is very passionate about mentoring others and giving them tangible skills and real wisdom they can use to elevate their own careers, regardless of whether they are students, interns, employees or volunteers. He believes not enough is being done to mentor others, and as a result, many people struggle and never reach their full potential. He takes great pride in his mentoring role and hopes to continue this work over the long term.
Paymon obtained his Master of Health Services Administration degree from The George Washington University School in Washington, D.C. He received his undergraduate degree in Neuroscience from the University of Pittsburgh. He was born and raised in Texas.
