Your donations to the SECC make a difference

Our community continues to recover from the COVID-19 pandemic and that’s why donations to the UT Health San Antonio 2021 State Employee Charitable Campaign (SECC) are so impactful and can assist those who are struggling. “Contributing with Grateful Hearts” is the theme for this year’s SECC.

What is the SECC?

The SECC is the state’s version of United Way. Your participation provides financial support to state and local nonprofit agencies assisting and empowering those in need.

The services and support of SECC agencies are needed now more than ever. Residents in our community have lost their jobs during the pandemic and are in need of basic necessities such as food, clothing, child care, health care and housing.

Your donations help these agencies provide education, food, mental health resources and shelter.

Which agencies benefit?

The SECC supports several nonprofit agencies, including a few related to our own university, guided by missions to assist those in need.

The campaign supports the UT Health San Antonio Staff Emergency Fund, SA Cancer Council and Chromosome 18 Registry and Research Society.

Additional agencies that benefit from your contributions include the Animal Defense League of Texas, Big Brothers Big Sisters of South Texas, the San Antonio Food Bank and Haven for Hope, to name a few.

You can choose the organizations you would like to support. Learn more about the statewide and local charities by watching these SECC charitable agency videos.

How to donate

Each year, state and higher education employees contribute through a payroll deduction or a one-time monetary gift. Your support is voluntary.

You can find more information about the SECC and make a donation on the SECC page on the My UT Health intranet. You can also view the list of agencies that are participating in this year’s SECC.

Due to the pandemic, departmental fundraisers won’t be held on campus again this year. Instead, there will be a virtual silent auction. The auction runs from Sept. 13 through Oct. 8. You can find information about the auction on the SECC page.

Thank you for your contributions!

Throughout the years, the generous faculty and staff at UT Health San Antonio have contributed millions of dollars to our community during the annual SECC campaign.

UT Health San Antonio was recognized by the SECC for its 2020 campaign with an award for being the top agency with the largest amount raised in Bexar County and 17 surrounding counties. UT Health San Antonio raised $375,772 during the 2020 campaign.

This year’s SECC runs from Sept. 1 through Oct. 8.
