March is Colon Cancer Awareness Month. The colon and rectal team of the Cancer Therapy & Research Center and UT Medicine are gearing up for an entire month of education, support and awareness to inform the public about colon cancer facts and prevention.
Janie Canty-Mitchell, Ph.D., has been named chair of the Healthcare Diversity Council (HCDC) board of directors. Dr. Canty-Mitchell serves as professor and chair of the Department of Family and Community Health Systems and interim chair of the Department of Health Restoration and Care System Management in the School of Nursing at the Health Science Center.
Deborah Parra-Medina, Ph.D., M.P.H., a Latino health researcher and professor of epidemiology and biostatistics at the Institute for Health Promotion Research (IHPR) at the UT Health Science Center at San Antonio, recently became a national research fellow and is co-leading regional health education centers in South Texas.
Texas Public Radio and the Health Science Center’s Cancer Therapy & Research Center will present the next Think Health Science: Clinical Trials at the Cancer Therapy & Research Center, at 7 p.m., Wednesday, March 9, at Pestana Lecture Hall. The speaker will be Andrew Brenner, M.D., Ph.D.
