Casey M. Drawert, M.D., an alum from the School of Medicine, a clinical assistant professor of anesthesiology and critical care, and the mother of two young children, died on March 11 at University Hospital.

Owen Ellard, most recently the chief operating officer of the Texas Medical Center Library in Houston, has been named senior director of libraries at the Health Science Center.

Supporting the growth of the bioscience industry in our region, the Health Science Center in 2010 awarded a $500,000 incentive grant to bring InCube Labs to San Antonio from San Jose, California. The city of San Antonio, Bexar County, the Texas Research and Technology Foundation and UTSA also partnered in this successful effort. The work continues to pay off today.

The Health Science Center was well represented with more than 20 poster presentations and sessions at the 2016 Innovations in Health Science Education Annual Conference held in Austin Feb. 18-19. The conference is a part of the University of Texas Kenneth I. Shine, M.D., Academy of Health Science Education.
