Robotic kidney cancer surgery shows desirable outcomes in study

In a study featured on the cover of the Journal of Urology (Official Journal of the American Urological Association), researchers from the Mays Cancer Center and Department of Urology show that robotically removing cancer from the inferior vena cava is a safe and effective alternative to the standard open surgery for kidney cancer.

Required COVID-19 precautions as community risk level worsens

Based on data reported to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) as of July 28 2022, Bexar County’s COVID-19 community risk level remains high and worsening. The BA.5 variant is highly contagious and can infect people who have had prior infections and those who are vaccinated against COVID-19. Still, vaccinations have proven to reduce the severity of the illness, reducing the number of hospitalizations.
