Thousands receive COVID vaccines, highest risk UT Health patients are next

UT Health San Antonio has handed out approximately 8,000 doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine since the first injections began Dec. 15. 

Front-line health care workers, physicians, nurses and students who interact with possible COVID-19 patients received the first shots. The vaccines were made available to all UT Health San Antonio faculty, staff and students Dec. 28.

Important notice for Tier 1a vaccine recipients

For Tier 1A vaccine recipients, please be aware that the first dose of vaccine will be provided through the end of the day, Wednesday, Dec. 23. At that time, vaccines will no longer be available for UT Health San Antonio health care personnel unless or until the organization receives another distribution. We do not have a confirmed distribution date at this time. You have been contacted directly to schedule your appointment. Please be aware of this impending deadline.
