UT San Antonio’s chief financial officer recognized among the city’s top executive leaders
The San Antonio Business Journal has named Ginny Gomez-Leon, MBA, CPA, senior vice president and chief financial officer for The University of Texas at San Antonio, a 2026 C-Suite Award winner.

Gomez-Leon is among ten senior executives who were selected by an independent editorial review panel for the honor, which recognizes professionals who have excelled in their roles and demonstrated exceptional leadership across San Antonio’s business community.
Having served as the principal architect of the nearly $2 billion fiscal budget strategy for UT Health San Antonio, the academic health center of UT San Antonio, Gomez-Leon has secured more than $1.5 billion in external funding for capital projects and played a pivotal financial role in the 2025 merger that created Texas’ third-largest public research university, the unified UT San Antonio.
She also helped bring to realization the December 2024 opening of UT Health San Antonio Multispecialty and Research Hospital and has led modernization efforts across the university’s financial and administrative operations.
“Ginny approaches every challenge with a solutions orientation. The answer is rarely ‘no.’ Instead, it is ‘let’s find a way’,” wrote Andrea Marks, MBA, CPA, senior executive vice president and chief operating officer of UT San Antonio, in her nomination letter of support. “I have had the privilege of working alongside Ginny for decades, and I can say without hesitation that her leadership, integrity and unwavering commitment to mission distinguish her as one of the most exceptional financial leaders in our field.”
Gomez-Leon and her fellow honorees will be celebrated at the San Antonio Business Journal’s C-Suite Awards event on Thursday, Sept. 3.
