Danet Lapiz Bluhm, PhD, RN, MSCI, FAAN, ANEF, professor and director of International Programs at UT Health San Antonio’s School of Nursing, is among 15 new inductees into the San Antonio Women’s Hall of Fame.

The San Antonio Women’s Hall of Fame annually honors women from San Antonio and Bexar County who have made a lasting impact on the region through their leadership in higher education, business, service, health care and more. Bluhm will be officially inducted during the organization’s gala on May 31.
As a dedicated nurse scientist and educator, Bluhm has made significant contributions to improving health at the local, national and international levels. Locally, she has led free diabetes and cardiovascular screenings and other health-promotion efforts benefiting over 10,000 individuals since 2009. Her work, in partnership with community organizations, also provides hands-on learning experiences for students, instructing them through compassionate care.
In addition to her academic and community leadership, Bluhm has served in key roles for numerous professional organizations, including the Philippine American Chamber of Commerce Greater San Antonio, the Philippine Nurses Association of San Antonio, the Asian Alamo Alliance of San Antonio and the Texas Nurses Association District 8, where she is currently president-elect.
For her outstanding contributions to health care and higher education, Bluhm has been recognized with numerous accolades, including induction as a Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing and the Academy of Nursing Education, along with multiple teaching, research and service awards.
“It is an incredible honor to be part of this group of women who are recognized for their significant contributions to San Antonio,” Bluhm said. “I hope that more women who work for UT Health San Antonio will be recognized for their significant contributions to San Antonio and the world.”
