An External Advisory Committee for the Health Science Center’s Military Health Institute, comprised of military health experts from across the country, has been formed. The committee held its inaugural meeting Feb. 26 in San Antonio.

Faculty member named chair of diversity council

Janie Canty-Mitchell, Ph.D., has been named chair of the Healthcare Diversity Council (HCDC) board of directors. Dr. Canty-Mitchell serves as professor and chair of the Department of Family and Community Health Systems and interim chair of the Department of Health Restoration and Care System Management in the School of Nursing at the Health Science Center.

Professor assumes leadership roles in health research

Deborah Parra-Medina, Ph.D., M.P.H., a Latino health researcher and professor of epidemiology and biostatistics at the Institute for Health Promotion Research (IHPR) at the UT Health Science Center at San Antonio, recently became a national research fellow and is co-leading regional health education centers in South Texas.
