Twenty-one months after the opening of the Regional Academic Health Center (RAHC) Medical Research Division at Edinburg, a dozen research scientists are conducting studies in the state-of-the-art building, including a team led by microbiologist Subramanian Dhandayuthapani, Ph.D., known by his colleagues as Dr. Pani.

Twelve healthy subjects in their 60s and 70s showed a different pattern of brain activations during thirst and satiation than did 10 healthy subjects in their 20s who drank the same amounts and underwent imaging with positron-emission tomography (PET).
