U.S. Surgeon General Carmona calls obesity ‘the terror within’

U.S. Surgeon General Richard H. Carmona, who visited the Health Science Center for a Feb. 24 symposium on obesity in the Hispanic population, suggested that if the public viewed the current epidemic of obesity with the same seriousness as potential acts of bioterrorism, the United States would take a solid and necessary step toward becoming a healthier nation.



Agreement opens pathway for Laredo students to School of Medicine

Francisco G. Cigarroa, M.D., president of The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, signed an agreement Friday with Texas A&M International University(TAMIU) in Laredo to facilitate the admission of outstanding TAMIU students into the Health Science Center’s School of Medicine.
