New report: Age, race, diet have effect on PSA levels over time

A man’s age, race and diet have a significant impact on how much his prostate-specific antigen (PSA) concentration changes over time, according to a report released Dec. 12 by researchers from institutions including the Health Science Center and the Cancer Therapy and Research Center (CTRC).


Schenken elected to serve on board to certify future physicians

Schenken, M.D., professor and chair of the department of obstetrics and gynecology, has been elected to serve on the board of directors of the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ABOG), the national organization that certifies physicians in obstetrics and gynecology, and related subspecialties.



Estrogen inhibitors likely to serve as cervical cancer treatments, study suggests

Landmark evidence suggests estrogen may be one of the causative agents in cervical cancer, according to a research team at the Health Science Center. The results, published in the Dec. 1 issue of Cancer Research, raise the possibility that estrogen inhibitors could be used as a potential line of therapy to treat cervical cancer.



Grant to focus on traffic safety issues among Hispanics
