Match Day March 17 offers medical students a look into their future

On March 17, more than 200 medical students from UT Health San Antonio™ (formerly the UT Health Science Center San Antonio) will stand on stage in front of their classmates, family, friends and faculty members to open an envelope revealing their future. It’s a dramatic but festive occasion for the students, who are wrapping up a rigorous four years of medical education and will now learn where across the U.S. they will go for their medical residency.

The Laredo community is invited to learn how to “Improve Health and Delay Aging” at a special event featuring healthy tips, hands-on demonstrations and guest speaker Dr. Fernando Sanchez, a Laredo neurologist. The free conference will be held 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday, March 4, at the Laredo Regional Campus of the UT Health Science Center San Antonio, now called UT Health San Antonio, at 1937 E. Bustamante St.

Cancer survivors fun run/walk set for March 25

The Cancer Therapy & Research Center (CTRC) of UT Health San Antonio™ is holding a 2.6-mile fun run/walk for cancer survivors, family members and friends. Called “Give Cancer the Boot,” the event will be held from 8 to 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 25, at the CTRC, 7979 Wurzbach Road.
