John Rugh, Ph.D., receives national dental honor

John Rugh, Ph.D., from the School of Dentistry at the UT Health Science Center San Antonio, recently received the Evidence-Based Dentistry Faculty Award for accomplished faculty members. It is a joint award from the American Dental Association and the American Association of Dental Research.

More than 7,000 oncologists, cancer researchers and patient advocates will converge on San Antonio Dec. 6-10 for the 39th San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium (SABCS) in the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center. Among them will be researchers and oncologists from the Cancer Therapy & Research Center of the UT Health Science Center San Antonio, which founded the conference in 1978.

Santikos Charitable Foundation, a fund of the San Antonio Area Foundation, on Nov. 1 announced a three-year, $2.3 million grant to The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio for high-powered radiological equipment to diagnose Alzheimer’s disease and other age-related conditions.
